How It All Began

Styling Ethos & Background
The genesis of NAZANEEN AZIZI® Styling was inevitable since Naz herself was born. The styling firm was founded on the principles of a limitless mindset, strategy, versatility, and authenticity- the pillars that Naz relied on since childhood. Growing up as a first generation Afghan-American, in a traditional, single parent, and economically disadvantaged environment, Naz struggled with the unavoidable mental health and self-esteem challenges that accompany a child in such circumstances. Although Naz’s innate creativity was discouraged and suppressed by her strict upbringing, she could not help but to hold onto the burning passion instilled in her since birth: fashion and styling.
Through the power of styling and its impact on one’s confidence and mood, Naz was able to thrive and express herself outside of her home, and at school, being able to magically conceal her inner struggles, to the point where no one would ever guess her actual circumstances. At this point, Naz realized the importance of styling, even more so than shopping. At NAZANEEN AZIZI® Styling, our mission is for you to also have the ability to paint any perception and play the part you’re meant for in life, no matter your circumstances, because when you look good, you feel good.
Although little Naz would spend her time sketching designs, dreaming of launching her own fashion business, risking her life to steal her older sister’s designer clothes from her closet and change at school (sorry, G!), fighting her mom to wear a chic book-bag instead of a conventional backpack, strategically creating the ultimate shopping list with the limited budget she was given on her mini whiteboard for back-to-school shopping, and winning the best dressed title in her yearbook, Naz was unfortunately dominated by the cultural career expectations, leading her to become a college student at just 15 years old, and declaring her major as Chemistry. She took college Calculus in the accelerated summer session in 11th grade at her local community college, in addition to Advanced Placement classes during the normal school year. Naz graduated high school with a 4.13 G.P.A., and progressed to Calculus 3 and Organic Chemistry, when she finally snapped out of it. Taking an extra year to graduate college, Naz changed her major from Chemistry to Business Administration, with the new goal of working in the fashion industry.

Although it’s notoriously difficult to break into the fashion industry without connections, especially with the limited retail corporations in the San Francisco Bay Area, Naz persevered through, landing a Retail Management Internship at Nordstrom upon graduation, was promoted into a full-time role in the Styling department, and eventually transitioned into a corporate career at the GAP, Inc headquarters in the San Francisco Financial District. Naz rapidly worked her way up at GAP, building a successful and impactful corporate career in executive talent acquisition operations, HR project management, while also creating viral marketing content and events for the internship program, and even having the pleasure of meeting and working with the founders of the company. Although having a six-figure salary in her mid-20s, working remote from her dream penthouse style apartments in both the San Francisco Bay Area & Los Angeles with her fiance and their pomeranian fur baby, and making a significant impact at an iconic Fortune 500 fashion corporation, Naz felt grateful, but still not fulfilled. She couldn’t stop dreaming about stepping out onto her own as an entrepreneur, doing something even bigger. Naz attempted to turn to social media as a creative outlet, posting career, fashion, & life content, but eventually couldn’t help but to feel drawn to her original dream and calling, which led to putting her resignation in at GAP to launch NAZANEEN AZIZI® Styling.
Ultimately, some things can be taught, but styling is an innate creative superpower you’re born with, as well as the unique ability to effortlessly connect with others deeply below the surface; it would be selfish to not share these gifts with the world, and be of service to others. Naz’s humble beginnings, innate passion and eye for styling, as well as her ability to build a trusted connection with her clients, while shopping for versatile pieces that can be styled strategically under a limited budget, created the perfect recipe for a natural-born stylist.
For years, Naz has been the trusted, go-to stylist to friends, family, co-workers, her social media audience, women she encounters in everyday life, and clients at her previous roles at Saks and Nordstrom, empowering others to use her wardrobe styling techniques to play the part they’re meant for, feeling fearless and unstoppable, despite their circumstances. Now it’s time that we make our services accessible to you. With the power of styling and shopping strategically for timeless, versatile pieces you love, treating your wardrobe as an uplifting collection and investment, despite your budget, we want to empower you to change your life, helping to eliminate limiting beliefs that may hold you back from becoming your authentic self and achieving your fullest potential.
